Impact

Even during a year of unprecedented events, Habitat has made great strides to continue to leave a lasting and positive impact on homes and communities. In the year of 2020, Habitat helped more than 5.9 million people build or improve their homes. Through training and advocacy, an additional 9.9 million gained the potential to improve housing conditions. We continue to see significant results and progress in many locations worldwide.

Binh, who uses a wheelchair, partnered with Habitat Vietnam to design and build a home for her and her daughter Giao that would be accessible with enough space. Construction was delayed to curb the spread of COVID-19, but workers resumed at the first available opportunity. Her home will include a ramp, wide doorways, and horizontal grab bars.

Habitat continues the commitment to create inclusive and responsive housing markets for low-income families around the world seeking adequate shelter. In 2020, Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter helped 5.3 million people.
